What does it mean to be a CRA?

By default every background check company is a Consumer Reporting Agency (CRA), but not every background check company is also a boutique corporate investigations firm like GObackgrounds.com. We specialize in employment background checks and due diligence.
As a CRA we have a dutiful obligation to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and may redact information that may be unlawful for you to consider when making a hiring decision. For example, arrests, pending or dismissed cases should not appear in the final background check report because they do not represent a definitive disposition of a criminal conviction. Also, in the State of Texas any criminal conviction beyond 7 years from the date probation ended cannot be passed along to the client. However, a criminal disposition of Withheld Adjudication within 7 years from the date probation ended can be passed along to the client, because there is an admission of guilt. However, in the State of Florida they call it Adjudication Withheld and this is not passed along to the client because there is no admission of guilt. Confused yet?
